What Is A Cataract?

Why Davies Eye Center?

Dr. James A. Davies, M.D. is the Medical Director of Davies Eye Center and The Surgical Eye Care Center. He has performed more than 50,000 surgeries in his 26-year career, including over 25,000 cataracts and lens implant procedures. A surgical pioneer, Dr. Davies was the first person in the world to implant the FDA-approved Crystalens HD500 in 2008.

Dr. Davies is recognized as the authority in the field of cataract and refractive surgery with experience in a wide range of procedures, such as corneal and anterior segment eye surgery, corneal laser refractive surgery and cataract surgery.

Dr. Alexander Foster was born and raised here in San Diego, and after graduating from medical school as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society at the University of Southern California, left for the Pacific Northwest to complete his surgical residency at the University of Washington. He stayed in Seattle an extra year to undertake rigorous subspecialty training in cornea transplant.

He performs a large volume of LASIK and cataract surgery, and is conversant in all modern lens implants including the latest generation of multifocal and extended depth of focus lenses. Options in modern cataract surgery can be overwhelming as a patient – Dr. Foster will be happy to help you navigate this process and design a plan to achieve your optimum results.
